Find your freshest Halloween treats at the farmers market

Halloween marks the last day of October and the last day of the season for the farmers market–so come spend your day with us! The treats we have to offer are the freshest available, including locally caught fish and seafood from Portland Fish Market. How about a dinner of fresh chinook? Or if salmon’s not to your liking, how about albacore tuna, ling cod, rockfish or halibut? The Market also offers Manila clams, Dungeness crab and several smoked fishes that you can actually taste–yum!

We have many other vendors too, of course, to fill your table with healthful choices. So come shop our fresh fruits and veggies to balance out all the sugary Halloween treats, and while you’re at it, enjoy the live indie-rock music of Michael Peterson.

Again, Saturday is our last day of the season–we’re open 9am to 2pm. See you there!

Time is running out…

…to enjoy the market this year! We’re down to our second to the last Saturday before the halcyon days of the Cedar Mill Farmers Market are over for the season.

So come share in the last of the sweetness. We have delicious specialty jams, butters and sauces–including preserves infused with wine and spirits–local honeys for that one-of-a-kind flavor, plus (don’t tell your bathroom scale) mouthwatering displays of baked goods and pastries from which to choose.

If natural sugars are more to your liking, we have that too, of course, in our fresh fall fruits, squashes and veggies. And while you’re at it, check out all the rest our cozy little market has to offer, including

We’re open Saturday from 9am to 2pm. Come spend some time with our wonderful vendors

Crisp apples, and market updates

Fall has arrived and, along with it, the pleasure of delicious local apples. You simply can’t get any fresher than straight off the tree, orchard to market. So come check out our vendors and the varieties they have to offer.

Whether you prefer eating your apples fresh, or baked to enhance their flavor and aroma, you’ll find more than you’ll need at the Cedar Mill Farmers Market. But don’t limit yourself to apples! We have crate-loads of fresh picked fruits and vegetables, including fresh greens and corn, vine and tree fruits and, yes, fall berries.

So come join us this Saturday to enjoy the beautiful weather that’s predicted and the fun of shopping outdoors.

For the month of October we will see more than just the leaves change. Starting on October 3rd, the market will be shifting over to the corner of the Sunset mall, by Murray and Cornell, to accommodate the coming construction. We will be graciously located in front of the Cedar Mill Safeway for the duration of October. But that’s not all, we will also be adjusting our hours for the changing season. Starting on October 3rd the Farmers Market will be open from 9AM-2PM.

Our hours don’t change until October: we’ll be open 8am to 1pm this Saturday.  See you then!

Pare a pare of pears–or a whole bushel!

Whatever you do, don’t miss out on the one-of-a-kind flavor and aroma of beautifully ripe, perfectly textured local pears. They’re delicious, and we’ve got bushels of mouth-watering Bartlett and Red Bartlett varieties fresh off the tree, with more coming in.

Not only do pears make a great, healthful snack, they’re marvelous in salads and side dishes and even better in desserts: cakes, pies, cobblers, sweet breads, sauces and more!

Of course we have plenty more than pears at the Cedar Mill Farmers Market. So come check us out this Saturday and see what goodies you can find.

We still have our summer hours through the end of September: 8am to 1pm. See you there!

Savor the lazy-hazy-crazy days

School may be in session, but summer isn’t over, not just yet. 12 full days remain before the autumnal equinox, when the length of daylight will match the length of darkness at night and begin to head toward longer nights.

But the growing season isn’t over yet, and we’ve got the sweet rewards of fresh, local produce to prove it. Looking for tender-sweet cherry tomatoes or crisp flavorful vegetables for your dinners, salads and side dishes? (See recipe below) Come fill a bag or two and while you’re at it, shop the vendors’ wares to find bargains on everything from a 5-star novel by a local author to jewelry and crafts to delectable specialties like local honeys and olive oils for your kitchen cupboard.

Saturday’s forecast is another reminder that summer is still with us: the high is expected to reach the upper 80s! So come on out and savor the season with us. We’ll continue our summer hours (8am to 1pm) through the end of the month.
